Extensions & New Homes in Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire Architectural Design Studio

Philip Wadge Architecture works with homeowners across Oxfordshire to reimagine their properties through modern extensions, renovations, barn conversions and new homes. From the historic streets of Henley-on-Thames to the rural villages of the Chilterns, every project is shaped by its local context and the way our clients want to live.

Every Project Starts By Listening

Founder Philip Wadge reads each property and its setting closely, listens to how you want to live, and helps you see what your home could become. Our team then develops that vision through 3D visualisation and considered, sustainable design, so you can see your home before it's built and be confident it will work for years to come.

The Oxfordshire Landscape

Homes across the region often sit within generous gardens and countryside settings, with views across the Chilterns National Landscape. From Cotswold-edge villages in the west to Thames-side properties around Goring and Henley, the landscape is always part of the design.

Inside and Outside, Working Together

Our designs strengthen the connection between house and garden: framing views across open countryside, drawing daylight deep into the plan, and opening living spaces so that inside and out feel like one.

Whether that means a copper-roofed glazed extension on a village property or a new zero-carbon home designed around its south-facing garden, each project responds to the character of the building and the setting around it.

Oxfordshire Planning Expertise

We have secured over 500 planning approvals across 24 local authorities. In Oxfordshire, we work regularly with South Oxfordshire District Council, Vale of White Horse District Council, West Oxfordshire District Council and Oxford City Council.

From conservation areas and heritage settings to edge-of-village sites, we understand the planning sensitivities that shape residential development across the county.

Designing in The Chilterns

The Chilterns National Landscape is a key designation across much of the county, where proposals must respond carefully to landscape character, local materials and visual impact. We have extensive experience designing within the Chilterns, shaping contemporary homes that work with their surroundings while giving our clients the spaces they want.

We work in and around Henley-on-Thames, Wallingford, Wantage, Watlington, Goring, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Faringdon, Abingdon-on-Thames, Upper Basildon, Lower Basildon and surrounding villages.

Start With a Conversation

The best place to begin is a conversation about your home. During a focused 90-minute consultation, Philip will visit your property, look closely at how it works today, and explore the real opportunities for light, space and connection to the garden. You'll come away with clear, practical advice and a much better sense of what's possible.

To see how we work from first conversation to finished home, visit Our Process.
