Extensions, Renovations and New Homes in Ascot and Sunningdale

Architectural Design for Homes around Ascot

Philip Wadge Architecture is a small, family-run architectural design studio serving homeowners in Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale in Berkshire. Houses here sit on spacious, well-screened plots, including Victorian and Edwardian villas near the racecourse, 1930s Arts and Crafts homes and detached family houses from the 1960s. We design extensions, renovations and new builds that maximise daylight and connect homes to gardens.

3D Design and Virtual Reality Walkthroughs

Every project begins with a visit from Founder Philip Wadge, who reads the house, its plot and the light, then listens to how you live now and how you would like to live.

Our team models the design in 3D, so you can stand in your new kitchen in virtual reality before anything is built. The same model shows planning officers how the design sits among the trees and then guides the builder on site during the construction phase.

Heathland, Pine Woods and Royal Parkland

Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale sit on sandy heathland rich with Scots pine, silver birch and rhododendron. Windsor Great Park lies to the north-east, Swinley Forest to the west and Chobham Common to the south, with Virginia Water near Cheapside. The fairways of Sunningdale and The Berkshire Golf Club run between the houses, and homes on Titlarks Hill, Charters Road and Kings Road overlook mature trees, creating a picturesque green backdrop.

Open-Plan Kitchen Extensions with Garden Views

In Ascot and Sunningdale, gardens are often the most striking feature of a home, and our designs showcase them. Reconfiguring layouts and adding slim-framed glazing bring natural light into the home. An open-plan kitchen, dining and living area offers views of the lawn, terrace and trees. Optional features include a covered outdoor room, a pool or a garden studio.

Planning Permission in Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale

We have secured over 500 planning approvals across 24 local authorities. Ascot, Sunninghill, Sunningdale and Cheapside fall within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, while North Ascot and Chavey Down fall under Bracknell Forest Council. We work with both authorities. The Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale Neighbourhood Plan, made in April 2014, preserves the area's leafy character and spacious plots. Our proposals follow those policies from the start.

Green Belt, Conservation Areas and Protected Trees

Much of the land around the villages lies within the Metropolitan Green Belt, where extensions or replacements are assessed against the original building's size. Sunningdale has a conservation area on Church Road, and more than fifty listed buildings stand across the two parishes. Tree Preservation Orders protect the pines and oaks that define the local character.
