About Philip Wadge Architecture

Philip whist working in the West Berkshire Council Building Control department along side planning, gained an in-depth knowledge of domestic and commercial construction techniques, procedures and permissions. That knowledge combined his classically trained design background helps Philip to help you achieve your vision that is simpler, cheaper and more efficient to build.

With degrees in both Architecture and Surveying Philip is an experienced construction profession with Chartered RICS status and RIBA affiliate. After initially working as a Jungle lodge designer whilst working in Peru, Philip gained great experience of UK construction whilst working and training at Reading and West Berkshire Councils in the Building Control departments alongside planning. Here he gained an in-depth knowledge of domestic and commercial construction techniques, procedures and permissions working with many of the areas best builders. Philip will provide you with design solutions that combine creative vision and problem solving methodologies to create the perfect architectural spaces for you that are simpler, cheaper and more efficient to build.

We will visit you in your home to discuss your building ideas, provide you with design ideas, maybe a vision or concept, discuss ways of dealing with planning restrictions, architectural design, structural requirements. You can ask any questions and we are more than happy to answer. You'll see examples of our work and we'll explain how we help you through the process. Afterwards I will follow up with a tailored services information pack and a quote.

Our current planning permission success rates tops 96% for client projects! Getting planning permission for domestic extensions is usually  straightforward for most single storey side and rear home extensions. Two storey extensions can require more sensitivity and understanding of the planning constraints, but is straight forward for us with our unique experience in this field.

How We Work Together

  • Step 1 - Survey

    We will measure your home and relevant parts of your garden and produce CAD drawing of your home.

  • Step 2 - Design

    We will consider and produce design options for you, based on clear floor plans and façade elevations so the interior and exterior design are harmonised. The process will then allow you to make comment and put in ideas before finalising the design.

  • Step 3 - Planning Application

    We will make and manage the planning process for you – its straight forward for us. 96% of our clients get approved as we have a unique view from our time working within the local planning department.

  • Step 4 - Building Regulations Detailed Design

    We create very large scale and detailed drawings that are favoured by our builders and will form the basis of builders quotes and a ‘blueprint’ for construction. We will also make and obtain the Building Regulations approval prior to starting works.

  • Step 5 - Handover to Trusted Building Contractors

    We will put you in touch with builders tailored to your project. The builders we recommend are excellent project managers and communicators – speaking to them will soon put you at ease – they are all very experienced and rely on recommendations for their work.
